This post comes to you via Musician’s Friend’s latest forest-leveling promotional catalog, which arrived in the mail today. Apparently Daisy Rock’s Chinese manufacturer has stepped up the work hours or dipped its toes into slave labor, as this bass is rediculously cheap.

I’m not sure if this is a closeout or a permanent price drop. Daisy Rock doesn’t have this model listed on their site, nor is it in their 2007 catalog.

I have to admit, I was tempted to order one just for the heck of it. Kinda reminds me of the days when Musician’s Friend was closing out Danelectro Hodad basses for $99. Guess who didn’t order one? >_<

I ordered one of the retro-H basses. First it told me it was backordered. Then they returned my $99.99. I immediately called to find out what was up. Alex the customer service guy said “They are discontinued. You must have missed out on the last one.” I bitched and complained. It did no good. They are all gone. I have only been able to find one right handed one, and one left handed one still for sale. I have the Retro-H 6 String, and I just bought the Retro-H 12 String (also discontinued) and I wanted to get the Retro-H bass to complete the set. They sound really nice, and for the price, they cant be beat.
Keep playing.
