Two Custom Shop Gretsch 6119B’s on eBay
The seller doesn’t give much info about these basses, other than that they were built by the Gretsch (Fender?) Custom Shop for the bass player from the band Train, and there were six made.
The cream w/ red racing stripe is pretty nice. I wonder what the other four colors were?

Beautiful Semi-Hollow Telecaster Bass Body on Warmoth.com
I subscribe to Warmoth’s ‘Showcase’ RSS feed. The showcase is where they list bodies and necks in various stages of completion, usually at a slight discount.
Yesterday this beauty showed up:

Bookmatched swamp ash on swamp ash. Would be the start to an awesome semi-hollow project.
Get Yr Cheap On: Daisy Rock Retro-H Bass for $99
This post comes to you via Musician’s Friend’s latest forest-leveling promotional catalog, which arrived in the mail today. Apparently Daisy Rock’s Chinese manufacturer has stepped up the work hours or dipped its toes into slave labor, as this bass is rediculously cheap.

I’m not sure if this is a closeout or a permanent […]
Mike Watt’s Chambered Thelen Tele Bass for Sale
Mike Watt (of Minutemen fame) is generally seen playing a Gibson EB-3, but he has decent collection of other instruments (including a Gibson Les Paul Signature Bass) that can be seen here. One of those instruments is now in the hands of TalkBass member SLAPMAN, who has posted it for sale.
According to Watt it’s a […]
Gibson EB-650 Sells For Under $600
A Yahoo Japan auction for a modified Gibson EB-650 ended today with a single bid at 70,000 yen. That converts to $589 US (based on today’s exchange rate). Even in its modified condition, $589 was still a great deal.
If only I hadn’t just bought a Fender Performer bass last month, I might have bid on […]
Rare Guild Starfire II in orginal GREEN finish
When’s the last time you saw one of these?
Tim Marks has posted his green 1967 Guild Starfire II bass for sale on the Talkbass Forums. It has some wear as can be expected, but comes with the original case. These are pretty hard to come by, and this one is for sale for $2,100 which […]
Irwin/Alembic-Modded Guild Starfire
A Talkbass‘er pointed out a New York Craigslist posting for a Guild Starfire modified by luthier Doug Irwin. Irwin worked for Alembic and modified/repaired/built guitars for Jerry Garcia. According to the seller, this bass was custom ordered by a Phil Lesh fan:
Listing is for a Guild Starfire Bass that was customised by Doug Irwin, a […]
For Sale: Shaftesbury Pseudo-Rickenbacker Copy
Best. F-Hole Label. Ever.
Similar to Howie Epstein’s Faux-Rickenbacker, this Shaftesbury represents a market that Rickenbacker never capitalized on - a bass version of one of their popular guitar shapes. In this case, the shape is that of the “330″ model:
This bass was going to be the eBay Freak of the Week for this week, […]
Report: Spartanburg, SC Vintage Guitar Show
This weekend, I drove to the Spartanburg, SC Vintage Guitar show along with my friends Zac (pictured above with my Yamaha SA-17) and Dan. Overall, I was a little disappointed at the selection. There were plenty of $10,000 to $60,000 Strats, Les Pauls and the like, but very little of the guitar kitsch that I […]
Gibson Custom Color Alpine White EB-2
The f-hole label on this ‘67 EB-2 says “EB-2 (Spec)”, which lends some credence to the claim that this is an original finish and not a refin. It looks to be in pristine condition, aside from typical Gibson finish cracks. Knobs might not be original, as my ‘69 EB-2 has the older ‘witch hat’ knobs.
