I’m working on a similar Univox “Coily”, which I found on ebay. You can follow my refinishing and rebuilding on Activebass.com in the builder’s forum.

I’ve opted for EMG humbuckers, Allparts Hofner tailpiece, and a Gretsch bridge. Considering active electronics, but haven’t decided yet.

…just posting two shots of the Guild Starfire recent reissue: Korean made model by Fender that only lasted on the market a couple of years. Too bad! I hope to find one sooner or later

Hey i just purchased this beautifull lady. She not only is hot to look at put the touch is smooth , rich with the clasic sound. i wa looking for Factory set up with no adjustments yet, great action. Ive enjoyed the Ric and the P bass. I was looking for a classsic .This one is now my only for rehearsal and gigs. Rock on Rob C

I’ve played one of these at Big Apple music in Utica, NY. Unfortunately thru a Line 6 amp. Nice bass-plays and sounds pretty good, but I couldn’t do a goldtop, it’s just wrong. If they had had a sunburst I might’ve bought one on the spot.
