Just thought I'd drop a line as it was my elder brother who actually purchased this item from ebay for the rather hefty (or bargain??) price of GBP2500.00. While the Gibson pups sound perfectly lovely, it will be restored to as close to its original glory as possible. Luthiers and Ric anoraks are already on the case. My brother and I are amateur collectors, as well as working musicians, and we currently house around 36 guitars of worth. This is a lovely beast and definitely worth the investment considering the 9K or 10K being charged for 4005's by some shops in London. Once completed, I will speak to my brother and we may well return here to post a wee picture, in the hope that the Ric officianados will call off the manhunt.

Cheers

Hmm, I actually like the idea of the Gibson pick-ups, as I had a 1965 EBO that sounded wonderful. Yes, from a collectability standpoint, this is a big no-no, but hey where else would someone score a 4005 for under $3000? It makes me sad that I sold my mint Azure-Glo for a mere $3250 a couple of years back! Ouch!
