Unknown Eastern European Hollowbody Bass - eBay Freak of the Week

Unknown East-European Hollowbody Bass

This week’s freak comes to use from Rolle, a reader in Germany. He emailed me with pics of a bass he recently won from eBay, and I asked him to send me his thoughts/notes on the bass. Here’s what he had to say:

Hi Brandon!

For sure you can feature my bass - but at this point I can’t say very much
about the sound, because I have to repair the bridge.

In short:
- longscale (!)
- very thin neck (about 31 mm width at the saddle)
- volume-pot and on-off switch
- schaller tuners (replaced by former owner)
- schaller bridge (heavily modified by former owner - he fixed the stringholder on the top!)
- body painted (by former owner)This bass seems to sound as it should (electric is ok) but is not yet in
action, so I wouldn’t bet on it! Hope to rock it soon with my blues trio
(www.bluesbooze.de).

Cheers

This one is pretty unique (in my opinion) because of the long scale and the single pickup in the bridge position instead of the neck. Oh, and the funky headstock. :) Thanks for showing us your bass!
