...wow: I changed the pickups on my Stylist B1 and now it's phenomenal!!! I installed two (custom made for me) Magnetics single coil sealed by epoxy resin into a Les Paul traditional enclosure; they are super quiet and "even" in amp/freq response. Piero Terracina (Mr. Magnetics) built those according to his 30 yrs experience on the subject: he finds the humbuckers not suited for hollowbodies, since they are too midrangey and make the guitar keen to the feedback (and the bass even more). I don't really know, but I would reccomend those for everybody that wants a clean quiet and even tone from the hollowbody bass. Price is decisely fair: 80 euro each plus shipping.

Hi Brandon,

really happy to see you and H.B.A back again for this new year.

I wish you the best for this new year… Just the best… only the best… sincerely.

By the end of June, I bought, for my 35'th birthday an Epiphone Jack Casady in black .
I've posted some questions on Talkbass… and after some tests in a shop in paris wich has several Hollowbody basses (Dean / Yahama/Ibanez & Epiphone)… I fell in love with the Epiphone.

She's got great tone, and a very nice stylish look…

I play it most of the time with a pick… and whaoh !!! it gives you back all you give her first. Punchy woody groovy tone.
The only thing i regret, is that when you play it a little bit fast, your arm is hurt by the angle of the bass. I need some protection to play it for a long time. There's also a problem of head diving, wich can be boring… i've got to find a solution for it.

But it's nothing compared to the pleasure you take when you play it.

If you want i can send you some pics… just email me.

I Hope to read you soon, and once again be ensured of my sincere sympathy.

Hi Brandon! First of all: may the 2008 be a better year for you on a personal level, and I mean it. Now, I am absolutely happy about my new Dean Stylist B1bass!!! It went out of production on 2007 and I was lucky enough to put my hands on one, before they vanish, here in Italy for 350 euro, that is not that much, all things considered. It is just a gorgeous baby, in its "natural" color and old traditional style. After ordered the bass (I had to do it, you know it!) I was afraid a lot to see poppin' out of the box the one with the horrible straight sound holes, but I was lucky: beautiful "f" holes instead!!! It plays extremely good, even with stock pickups; frankly before its delivery I thought worse things and I even asked on your site (in the green Stylist dedicated chapter) for indications about possible pu replacements, but in the end I think I am not going to do any mod to this little puppy. More: with its black pickups it resembles the Tuck Andress natural L5 CES with Barts!!! The 32" scale is not much different from the standard scale under the fingers: even here I thought it could be a problem, instead it is not! The sound is fully satisfactory. I play this bass with the Polytone Minibrute I and it's an extremely good match. The painting and the binding are flawless and it is just a pleasure to handle this instrument. Everybody that looks at it, can't help but drop their jaws!!! Here it is the link at some pics: you can use them as you want :-)
